Training
Want to become an AME expert yourself? Our customizable and individual training programs are designed to help you maximize your AME expertise. No matter if you are a beginner or already have an advanced understanding of AME, we will help you reach the next level. Across all modules, you will learn the new AME design philosophy, how to design your AME structures and how to make sure that your prints will be a success. Our training follows a strict hands-on idea. After a short introduction and a short demonstration, you will solve AME related issues by yourself to get in touch with AME as soon as possible. Select your required modules now and obtain exactly the training you need.
Training sections:
- Design: Get an overview of design tools and best practice approaches that allow you to turn your AME concepts into designs. A special focus will be placed on tailoring the designs to the selected AME process, increasing the success rate tremendously.
- Full 3D Simulations: From computing the values of coils and capacitors over predicting the radiation patterns of antennas to the heat distribution in your power electronic circuits, in this module you will get an in-depth introduction to a state-of-the-art simulation tool and how to use it in the AME context.
- Manufacturing Optimization: Learn how to make sure the manufacturing of your AME part will be a success. Using Nano Dimensions DragonFly IV system, we provide you with our best practices regarding the optimization of the printer settings and guide you through several population processes of the printed structures.
Learning Outcomes:
- Comprehensive understanding of how to design for AME, including an overview of available software tools.
- Ability to use simulation tools to validate the electromagnetic performance of the design before the print
- Skills in optimizing the entire AME workflow for efficiency and quality.
These modules provide a robust training program that equips you with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in AME engineering.
Design
This module provides deep insights into the available design tools and how to use and combine them to get to three-dimensional electronic designs. As for now, to achieve this, traditional eCAD tools, which deliver necessary information about the electronic components, need to be combined with mCAD tools, which allow for 3D designs. The emphasis of this training is on the combination of these tool families. The presented tools can be adapted based on your knowledge and the tools you have access to.
Key Learnings:
- Basic introduction to eCAD tools and design of simple circuits
- Basic introduction to mCAD tools and design of simple 3D structures
- Getting the circuit information into mCAD
- Introduction to AME design concepts: reduce weight, print capacitors and coils, 3D wiring etc.
Simulation
This module focuses on the simulation-based validation of your design. Get some insights into how your design will behave without the need to manufacture it. Besides SPICE-based circuit simulations and electromagnetic verifications of coils and capacitors, this module will also provide you with the knowledge to design and validate complex RF structures such as filters or antennas. An additional focus will be put on basic thermal simulations to predict the heat distribution across your design.
Key Learnings:
- Introduction to SPICE-based circuit simulation
- Simulating the capacitance and inductance of capacitors and coils
- Advanced RF structure simulations
- Basic thermal and multi-physic simulations
Manufacturing
This module contains everything necessary to transform your design into a functioning device. Starting from the right calibration steps of your Dragon Fly IV system and perfect printer settings to the final assembly and quality check of your device, every step will be covered within this module. In a hands-on approach, all necessary steps will be taught to ensure successful prints.
After the print is finished, a first inspection and evaluation of the print results is performed. Using our vast experience, we point you towards critical areas and teach you how to identify print issues. In the next part of the training, you will populate the AME parts yourself using different approaches, including manual soldering with a solder iron, using solder paste and IR oven as well as populating the AME structures using conductive glue. Finally, we will assist you in putting your device into functionality.
Key Learnings:
- Preparing and optimizing your design data for printing with the DragonFly IV
- Maintaining, print preparation and starting the DragonFly IV
- Post-Processing and assembly techniques for AME devices of the DragonFly IV
- Basic testing of finalized AME structures
