Brushless Motor Controller - PCB
Verified
A first design is finished, a complete explanation of the targeted functionality is included, and the targeted printer technology has been provided. This AME design also provides a model which is proven to fulfill the targeted functionality. Furthermore, the AME structure has been printed and validated by measurements. A complete set of the measurement setup and results is provided.
The brushless motor controller is designed to be suitable to control the triangle coil motor design, published by the J.A.M.E.S Team. At the current stage, it is a traditional PCB design which can be considered as the starting point to further steps towards a three-dimensional and fully integrated controller-motor-design.
Future Field of Application
When looking closely to the design and the picture, it can be observed that there are additional wires soldered to realize connections that are not included in the PCB design. The next evolutionary steps of this design would be to realize these connections within the AME structures by using 3D design approaches. As result, the soldering of additional wires will become obsolete.
Additionally, the soldered COTS capacitors could be replaced by embedded AME capacitors. Finally, the complete integration of the controller with a suitable AME motor would eliminate the need of any post-print assembly steps.
Current Technology Limitations
Due to the impossibility to embed COTS components automatically during the printing process and the lack of overhanging angles, the full potential of the AME design-electrifying any 3D volume- cannot be achieved.
