32. FED-Conference 18./19. September Ulm
Welcome to FED
Building bridges in technology and teamwork
As a central platform for everyone involved in the design and production of printed circuit boards and assemblies, the FED conference offers a unique opportunity to network with colleagues, share knowledge and learn from the experiences of others.
The FED plays a key role in building bridges between design and production, which not only promotes teamwork in the industry, but also lays the foundations for future innovations. The exchange of knowledge and experience is essential in order to successfully master the challenges of our time - such as supply chain management, climate protection and the shortage of skilled workers. Through lectures, expert panels and discussions you have the opportunity to exchange ideas and make valuable contacts.
FED - We Connect
About FED
The Electronics Design and Manufacturing Association (FED) represents the interests of 700 members, including printed circuit board designers and manufacturers, EMS and EDA companies, process and technology service providers as well as suppliers of manufacturing equipment, software and materials.
FED provides its members with guidance and support on technical business processes and decisions. One focus of the association‘s work is the preparation and transfer of specialist knowledge and the qualification of electronics professionals.
Experience the Conference
Discover a variety of solution-oriented specialist presentations
in four parallel slots and explore our accompanying exhibition,
which extends over two floors directly in front of the conference rooms. Design and circuit board experts,
software providers and suppliers for electronics manufacturing present themselves at 42 stands.
Between the exhibition stands, catering areas and
standing tables invite you to linger, offer ideal meeting points for lively
exchange and encourage the establishment of new contacts. Take
the opportunity to expand your professional network and exchange ideas with
industry experts.
Final in the PCB Design Award
For the seventh time since 2012, the FED has called on all circuit board designers in
Germany, Switzerland and Austria to submit a piece of work from their everyday work. For any project, the
PCB designers were asked to describe the task and solution given to them
and illustrate it with detailed images and photos of the assembly.
A six-member expert jury assessed the contributions – based on technical
demand, manufacturability and documentation – independently,
strictly confidentially and anonymously. The jury will reveal which PCB designers will receive the valuable
professional award at the awards ceremony on the first day of the conference.
Relax Together
Let the first day of the conference end in a relaxed manner and combine professional exchange with enjoyable relaxation.
We cordially invite you to take part in the after-work event. In guided groups, we explore the historic old town
of Ulm together, accompanied by experienced tour guides who offer you exciting insights and stories.
After the tour, we look forward to welcoming you to dinner together in the conference center in a relaxed atmosphere and to ending the day together in a pleasant way.
Enjoy the good atmosphere and entertaining activity.
PCB Designers of Tomorrow
Three years ago, FED course leader Gerhard Gröner started a two-year additional training course in circuit board layout for the prospective technicians at the vocational school at the Robert Bosch School in Ulm.
In collaboration with the teachers, practical exercises were developed using specially created samples. The training concludes with a three-part additional exam that certifies an FED certificate.
The young designers are represented at the exhibition with a stand. Exchange ideas with them there and also find out about the training and further education offered by the FED.

FED - Working Group for 3D Electronics
The focus of the new working group is the wide range of 3D electronics: In order to integrate components and connections in the third dimension, there are now a whole range of technologies and possibilities that can fall under the term 3D electronics.
