Recommendations:
- Ideal Temperature range from 250°C to 270°C
- Frequently remove evaporated DI from Solder Tip
- Keep some extra Solder on the Solder Tip
Caution
The Pads Start to Detach From the Board at Around 180C, So Apply Heat Only for a Brief Moment.
Soldering Iron
Any soldering station with precise temperature control is suitable.
Our choice is the Weller WS 81 Soldering Station.
Hot Air Station
For depopulating any airgun with precise temperature control is suitable.
Our choice is the Weller WTHA 1 Hot Air Station.
Solder
Any low-temperature solder core (up to 160°C) would work for soldering AMEs.
Our choice is:
- ISO-Core Sn100Ni+
- Sn63Pb37
Desoldering Wick
Desoldering wick comes in handy for removing excess solder material or opening soldered holes.
Populating With IR-Heater
A cheap and easy way to get your AME device populated is to choose an IR-heater.
